This quick guide walks you through the steps to add a ScoreboardMax overlay in minutes. Step 1: Create the Scoreboard You'll Use with vMix
First, create and configure your scoreboard in ScoreboardMax with your desired sport, teams, and settings.
Instructions:
- Log into your ScoreboardMax account
- Go to "Scoreboards" from the navigation menu
- Select an existing scoreboard, or choose "New Scoreboard"
- Select your sport (football, basketball, volleyball, etc.)
- Configure team names, colors, and logos
- Adjust any sport-specific settings as needed
- Save your scoreboard configuration

Step 2: Copy Livestream Embed URL
On the scoreboard details page, copy the Livestream Embed URL.
Instructions:
- A copy button has been provided for your convenience
- You will use this copied URL to paste into vMix in the next step
Pro Tip: You can customize the behavior of your scoreboard to meet game rules and your preferences with the "Settings" button in the upper right.
Step 3: Launch vMix
Open vMix, and configure your cameras and inputs for your stream as you normally do.
Instructions:
- Configure your camera, sound and other inputs as you prefer for your live stream.
Step 4: Create Web Browser Input
Click Add Input and select Web Browser
Instructions:
- In the lower left of vMix, click Add Input > More > and select Web Browser from the left panel.
- In the right panel, paste the Livestream Embed URL that you copied earlier into the URL field.
- Confirm that your Width and Height match your live stream output. To verify, click Settings in the upper right, click Display in the left panel, and look at Output Size.
- Make sure the latest browser version is selected (the highest number)
- Click "OK" to add the input
Step 5: Turn on Your Scoreboard Overlay
Toggle your scoreboard layer on by selecting the "1" icon in the scoreboard preview tile
Instructions:
- On the preview tile of the scoreboard input, you'll see numbers 1-4 in the bottom right
- Click on "1", this will turn the layer on as an overlay. You can use another number if you are already using "1" for something else.
- That's it, you're ready to go!
Step 6: Control Your Scoreboard
Return to ScoreboardMax and click on the "Scoreboard Control" link.
Instructions:
- You can configure any settings for your scoreboard by choosing "Settings" in the upper right
- At the bottom of the scoreboard controls, you can find a link to tips and instructions on how to control the scoreboard
Pro Tip: You can control the scoreboard from any device that has an internet connection - no need to control from your streaming computer.
Step 7: Invite a Guest Operator (Optional)
You can invite a guest to control your scoreboard temporarily in a couple of clicks - no sign-in required.
Instructions:
- This is particularly useful when you are using volunteer help to operate your scoreboard
- Click the "Share Scoreboard Control" button
- Choose how long you would like to grant access - from a few hours up to a few days
- The guest operator can scan the access QR code from their phone or tablet, or you can share it by text or email
Troubleshooting
Common Issues:
Scoreboard Not Appearing
- Verify that you have an active internet connection
- Confirm you've copied the complete Livestream Embed URL correctly
- Try refreshing the browser source (right click on the scoreboard input preview tile and select "Reload Page")
Scoreboard Appears But Doesn't Update
- Make sure that you are controlling the same scoreboard that is configured in vMix
- Verify that you have an active internet connection
- Try refreshing the browser source (right click on the scoreboard input preview tile and select "Reload Page")
Positioning or Bluriness Issues
- In the browser source, make sure that the width and height match the output resolution. To verify, click Settings in the upper right, click Display in the left panel, and look at Output Size.
