Can't Access ScoreboardMax? Here's How to Fix It

Solution for blocked access at schools, gyms, and venues with network filtering

Is ScoreboardMax Blocked on Your Network?

If you're trying to broadcast from a school gym, athletic facility, recreation center, or venue and ScoreboardMax won't load, you're likely encountering network filtering or firewall restrictions.

Common issues include error messages like "This site has been blocked," "Site can't be reached," "Connection timed out," or the website simply won't load on the venue's Wi-Fi network. Don't worry - we have a simple solution. Refer to the two options below.

Best Solution: Whitelist Our Domains

The ideal solution is to contact your venue's network administrator and request that they whitelist the following domains in their content filtering system:

  • app.scoreboardmax.com
  • ws.scoreboardmax.com

This ensures full functionality and the best experience.

Don't Have Time to Wait for IT Updates?

Use the alternate URL workaround below to get broadcasting immediately.

Alternate URL Workaround

Instead of our regular website, visit:

This alternate URL accesses the same ScoreboardMax application through our content delivery network, which is less likely to be blocked by school and venue filters.

Quick Tip

Don't want to type that long URL? Enter bit.ly/scoreboardmax in your browser and it will redirect you to the alternate URL. Much easier to remember and type!

Why Does This Happen?

Some schools, colleges, universities, athletic facilities, and other public venues use content filtering systems and network firewalls to control internet access. These systems may block access to certain websites, even legitimate streaming and broadcasting tools like ScoreboardMax.

In most cases, ScoreboardMax hasn't been explicitly blocked or flagged as inappropriate. Rather, many networks use an "allow list" approach where only pre-approved websites are accessible. Since ScoreboardMax simply hasn't been added to the approved list yet, you're unable to access it.

This is especially common when broadcasting youth sports, high school games, or college athletics where the venue's network administrator has implemented strict filtering policies.

How to Use the Alternate URL

1

Access Your Account

Visit https://d2jst162d9ofe4.cloudfront.net/ in your web browser and log in with your existing ScoreboardMax credentials. All your scoreboards and settings will be available exactly as they are on our regular website. Bookmark the alternate URL for future use.

2

Get Your Alternate Scoreboard URLs

When you access the ScoreboardMax website using the alternate URL, your scoreboard embed URLs will be provided using the alternate domain. To find your alternate scoreboard URLs:

  • Navigate to the scoreboards in your account
  • Click or tap on the scoreboard you want to access
  • Copy the Livestream Embed URL - it will include the alternate domain
3

Add to Your Streaming Software

Use the alternate Livestream Embed URL from step 2 when adding the browser source or web overlay to your streaming software (OBS, vMix, etc.). The scoreboard will function identically to our regular URLs.

Common Scenarios Where You Might Need the Alternate URL

Broadcasting from School Gyms

High school and middle school athletic facilities often have strict content filtering that blocks streaming-related websites.

College and University Events

Campus networks typically implement firewalls and filtering systems that may prevent access to external streaming tools.

Recreation Centers and Community Facilities

Public venues often use network restrictions to manage bandwidth and control content access.

Youth Sports Complexes

Athletic complexes hosting youth tournaments may block websites as part of their network security policies.

Still Can't Access ScoreboardMax?

If the alternate URL is also blocked or you're still experiencing connection issues, try these solutions:

Contact the Network Administrator

Reach out to the venue's IT department or network administrator and request that they whitelist ScoreboardMax or allow access to our alternate CloudFront domain.

Use a Mobile Hotspot

Connect your laptop or streaming device to your phone's cellular data instead of the venue's Wi-Fi. This bypasses the network filtering entirely.

Control from Another Device

Remember, you can control your scoreboard from any device on an unrestricted network (like your phone on cellular data) even while the scoreboard displays on your filtered network stream.

Remember

You'll need to update the scoreboard embed URLs in your streaming software to use the alternate domain. However, you can still control your scoreboards from devices on unrestricted networks (like your phone on cellular data) using our regular website URL.

The alternate URL is only needed for accessing the app and viewing scoreboards from the filtered network where you're broadcasting.
